Wedding Planning Tips

  • Before you start any planning or paying for anything, MAKE A BUDGET
  • Make a separate wedding email to sign up for things so you don't continue to get spam after the wedding is over.
  • Pinterest is your best friend to save you money on decor!
  • If you want to be as stress-free as possible, and not stress out your wedding party or parents either, then definitely do a wedding coordinator!  Saundra, our on-site wedding coordinator is amazing!
  • If you're doing a hashtag for wedding pictures, make sure to check your hashtag before the wedding to see if anyone else has already used it. Otherwise, you could get other peoples' pictures.
  • Ask your vendors how long they need for setup so you can inform your venue.
  • Remember that things often run over and take longer than expected, so it's a great idea to build in a contingency plan!
  • Have your maid of honor practice bustling your dress before the day-of to save time.
  • Don't forget to check on when you need to pick up your marriage license and what is needed when you do so.  Oregon's licenses aren't valid until three days after you pick it up and require cash only payments.
  • Make a list of after-wedding tasks to hand out to people so that you don't have anything to worry about and can enjoy your night!
  • Make sure you have a wedding day emergency kit, full of things like wet wipes, deodorant, bobby pins, etc.
  • If you're writing your own vows, look up ideas to help.
  • Make a wedding photo checklist for all the must-have shots so your photographer doesn't miss out on the important photos!
  • Make sure to eat before the festivities because you probably won't eat much at the reception.
  • There's always going to be at least one thing that goes wrong, so don't stress when it happens!
  • One thing people regret the most from a wedding is not hiring a videographer.  A wedding video is something you will cherish and show off to people for the rest of your lives.  Ambient Sky is one of our preferred vendors and they do any amazing job with wedding videos!
  • Double-duty flowers help save a lot of money!  Have a florist create arrangements that work for both the ceremony and the reception.
  • Don't forget to break in your wedding shoes before the day-of or you could get blisters.
  • Do your research for help on things like timelines, reception songs, etc.  Click here to see some important diagrams for help on anything wedding related.
